GICLEE - PRINT - 20 X 20.5 ON A 22 X 24 CM SHEET OF FINE ART PAPER. Sale Price:20.00 Original Price:25.0020 x 20.5 on a 22 x 24 cm sheet of fine art paper. Unframed. It's originally a monoprint - I applied a thin layer of intaglio ink onto a copper plate and worked the ink by removing bits - keeping in tune with the concept of a fading memory. Once I was happy-ish I ran this through the etching press with a dampened piece of Somerset Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper on top. I had to paint in reverse and mirrored.

Kilmainham Gaol
21.5 x 33.5 cm acrylic painting on a 29 x 40 cm sheet of paper. Sarah Eva Manson created this piece in 2007 as part of an observational project based in Kilmainham Gaol. Many Irish revolutionaries, including the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising, were imprisoned and executed in the prison by the orders of the UK Government. Manson has always had an interest in prisons. Prisons from history and how law enforcement has evolved through the centuries. Read more

PALIMPSEST 33
ORIGINAL - ETCHING - 30.5 X 39 CM ON A SHEET OF FINE ART PAPER. Sarah Eva Manson’s work explores the loss and disappearance of memory, taking a critical view of social and economical transitory states of mind. She questions whether these lost memories are able to return atavistically through a manifestation of Karl Jung’s theory of cultural memory. The act of accessing our long term memory is crucial to Sarah Eva’s research as she reconstructs romantic recognisable imagery into new conceptually layered pieces. Palimpsest- Something reused or altered but still bearing visible traces of its earlier form.
